Here are my top 5 reasons to hire an interior designer:
1. Save time
Let’s all face it, we are busy. Technology was supposed to save us time, yet it seems that it’s only connected us more so that we have access to additional tasks. One thing my mentor told me early on in my career was “work smart, not hard.” He taught me that there’s great value in allowing someone else to handle a task when they are more capable of doing it. They are an expert at what they do, so why not allow them to handle it for me? This concept rings true for hiring me, an interior designer. Why not allow someone who’s educated, certified, experienced and trustworthy to do the legwork for you? Yes, you need to be vocal about your likes, dislikes, ideas and resources but you can pass this information off and allow your designer to work it for you.
2. Save money
What!? Save money when you’re paying someone to do work for you? Yes, it’s possible. Television likes to encourage everyone to “Do It Yourself” and you’ll save boatloads of money. What they don’t tell you is that a majority of people end up spending MORE money trying to fix their mistakes than if they’d just hired a professional in the first place. When you get someone who’s trustworthy and hardworking they’ll spend your money wisely. I view every billable hour as money out of my client’s pocket, I’m motivated to work as efficiently as possible and give them the most for the least.
3. Access to resources
Dallas is a market rich and saturated with design resources. We have an entire district devoted to products for use in our projects. A majority of these showrooms and warehouses are open to what’s known as “Trade Only.” This means that they sell exclusively to designers or builders. When you work with me I’ll take you to any manufacturer you’d like to visit. We can purchase items and materials for your project and often times, get it at a discount. Having access to these previously closed vendors opens you up to the vast array of possibilities.
4. Gain from their experience
Have you ever known someone that purchased something and it wasn’t made correctly? What did you do? Well I have and I handled it with professionalism and toughness. I was able to get the product replaced and obtain an additional discount for my client simply by informing them of the problem and working with the manufacturer. This was no easy task but I went to bat for my client and we all won. When you hire an interior designer you are putting their arsenal of experience behind you. The knowledge that they have can keep you from making a potentially disastrous decision or benefit you greatly.
5. Working collaboratively
My company motto is, “Interiors that are uniquely yours.” This wasn’t arrived at lightly, I truly want to work with you to build a relationship in which I understand you, your wants, needs, ideas, pet peeves and style. I want to help you achieve your goals and love every minute of it. Working on a project shouldn’t be stressful, it should be fun!
So, have I convinced you yet? Working with an interior designer can be an extremely rewarding opportunity.
